Every night, Timmy heard noises under his bed. Scratching, bumping, and sometimes what sounded like humming. His parents said it was just the house settling, but Timmy knew better. There was something under there. One brave night, Timmy decided to find out what it was. He took his flashlight, got on his tummy, and shone the light under the bed. Two big yellow eyes stared back at him! Timmy almost screamed, but then the creature spoke. "Hi," it said softly. "I'm Grumble. I've been living here for years." Timmy's fear turned to curiosity. "Why are you under my bed?" he asked. Grumble sighed. "I used to live in the forest, but it got too noisy. Your room is quiet and cozy. But I'm lonely. Nobody ever talks to me." Timmy felt sorry for Grumble. He was just a creature looking for a quiet home and a friend. "You can stay," Timmy said, "but no more scary noises at night. I need to sleep." Grumble agreed.
